Savannah HD Service Dept limitation
I would like to give Savannah HD a much higher rating, but a limitation the service department has conveyed to me 'continues' to damper my experience with Savannah HD. Excuse this discussion if you have heard from me (or others) before, but I feel obligated to repeat it until I understand the effective reasoning of Savannah HD. I enjoy coming to the showroom and the parts department for my Harley experiences, but I don't understand the 'emphasis' Savannah tends to put on new bike sales and ownership. I have a year 2000 Road King, which I like to think, I keep in pristine condition. When I bought the bike back in 2000, it was with pride I highly valued and waited many years to acquire a Harley, thus the maintenance and enhancements I also value in KEEPING the bike. The rub is; I don't know if it's a dealer/factory directive or your just your ownership, but turning away maintenance/service business on older bikes just brothers me. To me (and I suspect others my age (70 +years)) the pride of Harley ownership encompasses the old and new. I understand there could be strictly business decisions made here. I moved to Savannah from Denver Colorado, where there were 4 dealerships. As late as 2018, none of the 4 that I had service business contact with had such limitations. Moreover, I sensed they understood the Harley credo and loyalty I speak of, and I don't sense that here. I hope someone can give me a satisfactory explanation, other than we think it's not economically advantageous to service old bikes (2010 and earlier, wow!). I am sure you're aware that many people still treasure their Evo's Shovel's and Pan's as much as I do my early Twin Cam. As a suggestion, and unless it's strictly mandated against, how about a having your service mangers actually take a look at an older bike (paid for of course) before deciding it's economically feasible to perform simple maintenance tasks.
